WHAT IS EXPERIMENTAL PHOTOGRAPHY?
BY MADAME PAGU
Experimental Photography is the term used to indicate an area of photography that has always been connected to an alternative way to register an image. Many were the artists who used historical processes of light registration, such as cyanotype, antotype and the Van Dyke method, as a way to question the usual response of the photographic process, treating the laboratory in a subversive way, which led the artist to new alternatives in his creative process, either in the technical or in the narrative field. One can still notice that this expression of photography creates parallels with Dadaism, photomontage, collage, surrealism, and, many times, with abstractionism.
